Cairns Airport strongly supports & invests in tourism in the TNQ region, working closely with partners such as Tourism Tropical North Queensland.  Together we work to provide aviation access to Cairns from key and emerging tourism markets.

There were 648,000 international visitors to the TNQ region for the year ending June 2011. The region also attracted 1,266,000 domestic visitors.

Cairns Airport is also an important regional aviation hub for the Asia Pacific's growing mining and resources industries.

Cairns Airport also offers:

  • Opportunities for lucrative live fish & other seafood exports to Asia.
  • High demand for outbound freight to Asia & New Zealand.
  • No existing airport curfews.
  • Excellent infrastructure facilities.
  • Active support for the excellent domestic, regional and general aviation network throughout Queensland and Australia.
