Cairns Airport Employment

Cairns Airport employs approximately 100 staff comprising full time, part time, temporary and contract positions. These positions cover professional, technical, clerical, administrative and operational roles across our business units.

It is a condition of employment that all staff must pass a drug and alcohol screening test, and undertake a Federal Police clearance prior to commencing work with us.

MANAGER ICT

This is a fantastic opportunity to play an integral role in North Queensland Airports Group and to be part of a dynamic team responsible for management and operations of Cairns and Mackay Airports. We are looking for an ICT specialist to join our team located in Cairns, in the role of Manager ICT.

Your role will prepare and deliver the ICT strategy for the Group and involve ensuring the ongoing management and support of ICT infrastructure and desktop environment that sustains Cairns and Mackay Airports. Well-organised with a keen eye for detail, you will provide specialist ICT advisory and customer support services and local ICT service delivery management as well as management and detailed planning and ICT strategy development.

A strong team player with expertise in the use and support of a wide range of applications, your proven leadership and ability to train other staff will be required. You will need to be able to function effectively and adapt in a changing environment.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.

GROUNDCREW (CASUAL)

We are looking for a flexible, safety focused, multi-skilled team member whose primary role involves maintenance of the airport’s airside/landside facilities.

Duties include a broad range of grounds maintenance activities through the operation of a range of plant, equipment and hand tools which contribute to maintaining the safety and operational standards of aircraft pavements, grassed areas, roads, car parks, drains and fences.

Candidates must have a minimum of MR licence and white card. Previous experience operating Backhoe, tractor and/or line marking would be an advantage.

Successful candidate must be reliable, safety focused and will be required to pass medical, drug and alcohol testing, and a Federal Police clearance is also required for this role.

MANAGER AIRSIDE OPERATIONS


North Queensland Airports has an opportunity for a responsible, self motivated, Manager Airside Operations join our Operations team based in Cairns.

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, this position is a key role in the management of Airside Operations across Cairns and Mackay Airports. You must also have proven experience and understanding in:

• Airport security and safety requirements
• Aerodrome Operational Safety and Compliance with regulations including development of MOWPs, NOTAMs, SMS compliance,
management of Airside Vehicle Control Program and Bird & Wildlife Management Plan
• Emergency response to aircraft accidents and incidents
• Computer based operational systems
• Monitoring and leadership of team of Airside Safety Officers

NQA MANAGER SECURITY

North Queensland Airports has an opportunity for a responsible, self motivated, Manager Security to join our Operations team based in Cairns.

Reporting to the GM Operations, this position is a key role in the management of Security across Cairns and Mackay Airports. You must also have proven experience and understanding in:

• Airport security and safety requirements
• Management of Security operations and security contractors across both Cairns and Mackay Airports
• Strategic aviation security direction and representation at national level security forums

This is a newly created position due to expansion of our business responsibilities and will require an experienced, self starter who has a team focus to their work.

AIRPORT DUTY MANAGER

Cairns Airport has an opportunity for a responsible, self motivated, team leader to join our Terminal Services team as one of our Airport Duty Managers.

Reporting to the Manager Terminals, this position supervises and coordinates the Terminal Operations Group who are responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and customer focused terminal and apron operations on a daily basis.

You must also have proven experience and understanding in:

• Airport security and safety requirements
• Operational procedures
• Computer based operational systems
• Monitoring team performance and customer service standards
• Asset and terminal management
• Providing leadership and direction

The successful candidate will have proficient computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and customers. The ability to think clearly and perform duties in emergency or pressure situation is essential.

This position operates on a rotational 7 day a week shift basis.

AIRPORT SAFETY OFFICER (6 MONTH CONTRACT)

We are looking for a qualified Airport Safety Officer (Airport Reporting Officer / Works Safety Officer) in Cairns. This is a contract position, to assist with rostering and annual leave relief requirements for the Safety Officer team.

The successful person will be responsible for ensuring CASA compliance, airport safety procedures, operational standards, and environmental guidelines are maintained.

Reporting to the Airside Operations Manager, you will be required to work varying hours both day and night shifts. You will be expected to be available for emergency call outs and to back fill at short notice.

The successful applicant will have:

  • An Aviation Security Identification Card, current drivers licence and ability to obtain Authority to Drive Airside, Radio Operator Certificate of Proficiency and a Firearms Licence;
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of airport operations activities and regulatory requirements, such as: aircraft operations, contractor works supervision, obstacle control, bird and wildlife management, airside vehicle control, emergency response, airport serviceability inspections and reporting functions;
  • Ability to obtain a thorough knowledge of aerodrome standards and requirements as detailed in the Airport Operations Manual and MOS Part 139.
  • Well developed communication and comprehension skills, with the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external airport stakeholders.
