Cairns Airport Update

Cairns Airport will enter Stage 5 of its Cyclone Plan at 1000 hours tomorrow morning (Wednesday 2 February) in response to the latest advice from the Bureau of Meteorology for Tropical Cyclone Yasi. 

 

At this time all operations at Cairns Airport will cease until further notice.

 

Both terminal buildings will be secured and there will be no public access to them from 1000 hours tomorrow.

 

Airline Updates:

 

  • QantasLink services have now ceased.

  • Qantas services will cease from this evening.

  • Continental services will cease from this evening.

  • Jetstar will not operate services tomorrow and Thursday morning at this stage.

  • Virgin will operate their last service to Brisbane at 0820 hours tomorrow.

  • Tiger has cancelled their services for tomorrow.

  • Air Niugini has cancelled their service for tomorrow.

  • Alliance has cancelled their service for tomorrow.

  • Air New Zealand has cancelled their service for tomorrow.

  • Cathay Pacific has cancelled their service for tomorrow and Thursday.

  • Skytrans have cancelled services for tomorrow and Thursday.

The Cairns Airport Cyclone Committee will continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates to the local media and this website as the situation changes.
