T1 (International)

Currency and Cash

For arriving international passengers a currency exchange booth is located within the T1 (International) baggage reclaim area as well as in the public arrivals hall. For departing international passengers a currency exchange is located in the T1 departures lounge.

Cash transaction machines accepting most cards are available at the following locations:

  • Pre-immigration/security – Travelex ATM foreign exchange
  • Departures & Arrivals Hall – Travelex foreign exchange

Restrooms

Toilets, baby-care and facilities for people with a disability are located both landside and airside in T1.

Internet and WiFi

Free WiFi is available in Cairns Airport. Passengers in T1 (International) can access one hour free WiFi per 24 hours, and passengers in T2 (Domestic) can access 30 minutes free WiFi per 24 hours.

For greater use, passengers can access Wifi from $3:00 per hour/60MB, $6:00 per 24 hr/160MB or $30 per 7 days/1.2GB.
Internet kiosks are available which offer WiFi connection at the same rates.

Shopping and Dining

There are a variety of stores in the departure lounge including Duty Free,  food outlets, fashion, gift and specialty stores and a newsagent. Visit the Shop & Dine page to discover the exciting retail options available to you.

Tourist Refund Scheme

The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) enables you to claim a tax refund on goods purchased in Australia. The Tourist Refund Scheme desk is operated by Australian Customs Service and is located at T1 (International) Departures.

Trolleys

Trolleys are free to international arriving passengers and are located in the arrivals baggage collection area.
There is a minimal cash charge for trolley use when departing. The trolleys are located outside departures, arrivals and in the carpark.

Porterage – Groups

A group porterage service is operated by TLC Airport Luggage Services. Bookings are required in advance and the cost is charged per bag. Large luggage truck transfers are also available.

Access for All

Each terminal has drop-off/pick-up areas for people with a disability marked at the kerbside. These areas are only available to vehicles displaying a permit for a person with a disabiltiy, and drivers must follow the normal kerbside parking rules. Under government legislation, no vehicle is permitted to be left unattended at the kerbside outside the terminal. Drivers may assist passengers to disembark from the drop-off/pick up areas for people with a disability, however the vehicle must not be left unattended to assist passengers into the terminal. If the passenger requires assistance to the check-in area, the driver must park the vehicle in the public car park and then return to assist the passenger.
