Cairns Airport is Australia’s second busiest regional airport and seventh busiest International airport. It is expected that by 2020 passenger numbers passing through the airport will reach 5.9 million.

Currently the Domestic terminal is undergoing major redevelopment to facilitate these growing passenger numbers.

Domestically, Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue all operate out of Cairns, which now has scheduled services to all mainland state capital cities as well as various regional locations.

Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Jetstar, Air New Zealand, Continental and Air Nuigini take up the international routes and together with the domestic airlines, delivered 3.99 million passenger movements in Cairns in 2006/2007.
