Our Cairns Airport Making Christmas a Little Brighter Campaign is aimed at supporting smaller, lesser-known charities, not-for-profit organisations and grass-roots sporting community groups with limited marketing capacity located in our Far North Queensland region.

In 2023, Cairns Airport were proud to provide $5,000 donation to the following organisations:

  • Moyamoya Australia, focusses on providing financial support for families going through their Moyamoya journey, a rare disease found in the arteries in the brain. The donation will go towards making life easier for their patients including providing meals and transport requirements.

  • Cassowary Coast Paws and Claws Inc, is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers aimed to rehome dogs and cats rescued from the council pounds or are surrendered in.  The donation will go toward technology upgrades in their offices including computer and security systems.

  • Atherton Performing Arts Inc, a volunteer run organisation creating a place for their local community of all ages to be part of theatre productions. The donation will go towards upgrading their electrical equipment to run future successful theatre productions.

  • Port Douglas Football Club Inc, a community-oriented club providing a fit and healthy lifestyle for individuals playing AFL. This year the club is launching an inaugural women’s side to support an all-inclusive club and our donation will be going towards in launching this program successfully.

  • Bloomfield River District Residents Association, a community organisation which facilitates community events to promote the wellbeing and active participation of their local community. The donation will go towards supporting a community member, Little Jasper who suffered a brain injury at birth to receive much needed stem cell treatment.

This campaign will launch at the end of November 2024 and locals are being asked to nominate deserving organisations. This year, you will find new Donation Globes located around our Domestic and International Terminals. Passengers are welcome to donate money into the globes, including any foreign currency. All funds donated into the globes will be invested back into the local community as part of this campaign.

Since the launch of the ‘Making Christmas a Little Brighter’ Campaign in 2022, Cairns Airport has donated over $52,000 to help smaller organisation continue the fantastic work they do in our region.
