The inaugural International Business, Environment and Climate Conference–IBECC2022–will be held at the Cairns Convention Centre, 31 August to 2 September 2022.
Globally, there is increasing awareness that businesses and investors must include environmental and climate factors into their business plans–indeed their very viability and future depends on doing so.
“Cairns is a logical location for this important international event” said Conference Organising Committee member and CEO of Cairns Airport, Richard Barker, “we have some great examples of businesses adopting environmental purpose and practice in and around Cairns which we are keen to show to conference participants”.
IBECC ’22 aims to be the first in a series of conferences to be based in Cairns.
IBECC will provide a valuable forum for discussion on the most profound issues and challenges facing businesses and investors. Delegates are being encouraged to attend in person however virtual participation will be available to delegates who are unable to travel.
The extensive program, facilitated by ABC Indigenous Affairs Editor and multi award winning current affairs host Stan Grant includes sessions on establishing a baseline from which sustainability efforts and energy transition can commence, forecasting the impact of climate change on businesses and investors and business models’ enterprises will need to adopt to ensure their sustainability and continued viability.
Internationally renowned speakers from the environmental and business sectors will deliver keynote addresses at the conference, but submissions from local researchers and businesses are invited.
“This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses, academics and practitioners to deliver their message on a global stage” Barker said, “the door is definitely open to proposals and we welcome submissions from across the region”.
