At Cairns Airport, we’re committed to ensuring our region thrives. Our strategy is to work and partner with organisations that make a greater difference to our Far North Queensland community.
Our Cairns Airport Making Christmas a Little Brighter Campaign is aimed at supporting smaller, lesser-known charities, not-for-profit organisations and grass-roots sporting community groups with limited marketing capacity located in our Far North Queensland region.
In 2025, Cairns Airport were proud to provide $5,000 donation to the following organisations:
- Stray to Stay Pty Ltd: Rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need across FNQ, from Cape York to Burdekin. Our donation will fund vital vet care and flights to Cairns for rehabilitation.
- Great Barrier Reef Lions Inc: A not-for-profit delivering vital community services across pillars like youth, health, and disaster relief. Our donation will support their Hospital Equipment Loan Service, providing wheelchairs, walkers, and other essential items to those in need.
- Cairns BMX Club: A family-friendly hub for riders aged 3 to 63, operating for over 50 years. Our donation will help purchase loan equipment (helmets, gloves, bikes) for new families and upgrade lighting and security to keep kids active and socially engaged.
- Miriwinni & District Community Hub Inc: A new not-for-profit preserving the Miriwinni Community Hall as a vital community space. Our donation will fund urgent repairs, safety compliance, and amenities to reopen the hall for events and programs.
- Cairns Region Toy Library Inc: Supporting children’s development and family play with a wide range of toys for over 200 member families. Our donation will fund facility upgrades, including replacing a damaged door after a break-in attempt.
This campaign will launch in mid-November 2026 and locals are being asked to nominate deserving organisations through our website. You will find Donation Globes located around our Domestic and International Terminals. Passengers are welcome to donate money into the globes, including any foreign currency. All funds donated into the globes will be invested back into the local community as part of this campaign.
Since the launch of the ‘Making Christmas a Little Brighter’ Campaign in 2022, Cairns Airport has donated up to $105,000 to help smaller organisation continue the fantastic work they do in our region.
