Cairns Airport’s Delicious New Destination

Cairns Airport has achieved another significant post-pandemic milestone with the completion of a vibrant, new food and beverage precinct tailored to passenger requirements.

The opening of Vietnamese street food favourite Roll’d and decadent pastry café Bittersweet finalise a years-long reinvigoration of Cairns Airport’s restaurant and café space, which was stalled in March 2020 as COVID took hold.

A total of 10 new offerings have opened at Cairns Airport over the last 12 months, including:

-          Saltwater Creek Taphouse

-          Mangrove Jacks

-          Mr Green’s

-          Captain’s Sports Bar

-          Bistrot

-          Two Tigers

-          Roll’d

-          Bittersweet

-          Sugar & Cane

-          Waddi (International Terminal)

The finished precinct will be officially opened on Friday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tasting plates fresh from each store, to celebrate the highly anticipated occasion.

Cairns Airport Chief Executive Officer Richard Barker said each food and beverage addition had been carefully selected to ensure a vibrant mix of cuisines and dining options.

“We listened to customer feedback and worked strategically with our stakeholders to ensure we provide an excellent experience for every person who visits,” he said.

“This precinct caters to young families, solo travellers, business flyers and group holidaymakers. Our restaurants and cafes each have their own point of difference and offer a huge variety, taking into account dietary requirements and the individual needs of our passengers. Those who wish to arrive earlier at the airport can sit, relax and enjoy a meal or drink, or there is a range of ‘grab and go’ products perfect for people with less time.”

“The opening of this precinct further demonstrates how we are continuing to transition into a new and dynamic phase following the pandemic.”

Cairns Airport works closely with stakeholders to promote the use of fresh local produce and products, and consideration is given to sustainable practices at each outlet, including conscious recycling and packaging decisions.

The airport will be further enhanced next year with the opening of a series of specialist retail spaces. Opportunities are also available for pop ups, activations, and casual leasing options.
