Boost for Cairns Airport Transport

A scheduled shuttle bus service is launching at Cairns Airport, providing more travel options to visitors and locals when they touch down in Tropical North Queensland.

The new transport offering – fittingly named the ‘Cairns Airporter’ – is part of a freshly inked agreement with Exemplar Coaches and Limousines, who will manage the transfer desks at both the domestic and international terminals from today (Monday September 5).

“One of the key features of this new agreement is a scheduled city transfer service, which will offer regular coach options between the airport and CBD from morning to night, ”Cairns Airport Chief Executive Officer Richard Barker said.

“The ‘Cairns Airporter’ services will enable faster and more frequent trips into Cairns and give visitors and locals added confidence and peace of mind when they arrive here. There will also be more scheduled transfer services to Port Douglas and Palm Cove, with shorter waiting times between aircraft arrival and coach departures.”

Exemplar is also increasing its fleet to include private and Silver Service limousine transfers.

It is hoped that the bolstered range of services will provide additional options for passengers during peak arrival periods, when taxis or rideshare services are in high demand.

“We do recommend that both visitors and locals do what they can to pre-book travel arrangements to and from the airport when travelling,” Mr Barker said.

Exemplar’s new look space in the domestic terminal will be manned from "first to last ”flight, with plans to go to a 24-hour desk before the end of this year.

Gordon Wellham, Director of Exemplar Coaches and Limousines, said visitors to Tropical North Queensland would be offered every possible transfer option out of Cairns Airport.

“We are very excited to be expanding our business and look forward to offering even better service to our existing and new travellers,” he said.

“We recognise that Tropical North Queensland is operating at record levels with airport arrivals also very strong. We want to meet that demand and with our fleet and product expansion we absolutely believe that visitors to Tropical North Queensland will have a world class welcome and departure.”
